Tanjung Putting was originally a nature reserve and wildlife reserves with a total area of 305 000 ha set by the Dutch government on June 13, 1936.
Then on May 12, 1984 by the Ministry of Forestry, Tanjung Puting National Park designated as a breadth of 415 040 ha. Taman Nasional Tanjung Puting (TNTP) is a natural rainforest, home to a unique variety of animal species.
